If you’re here, it’s quite likely that you’re a beginner to affiliate marketing, or that you’re familiar with affiliate marketing but your earnings are less than impressive.
Affiliate marketing is so much more than just link dropping (adding links to text within posts). Trust me, I know. It was a hard learning curve. People don’t just randomly click on links anymore. Some do, but they’re not compelled to buy.

1. You Need To Have A Strategy In Place
That was a tough one for me to get my head around. Ever since I started blogging, I knew that I wanted to earn big money through affiliate marketing but in my best month ever, I received £400ish. I remember the day I checked my account! My heart was going crazy, and I was so excited. Replicating that has been tough.
That was until I decided to invest in learning all that I possibly could about affiliate marketing. Through books like Carolina King & Suzy Whitford’s Amazon book that teaches you how to earn through the Amazon Associates program and How To Earn Your First Affiliate Sale via Pinterest in 24 Hours (which worked a treat!). Trust me when I tell you, that you will not be disappointed with your investment.
Making Sense Of Affiliate Marketing
Michelle teaches the strategy behind affiliate marketing. You aren’t promised about making loads of money immediately.. you are taught the strategies behind affiliate marketing so that you can apply it to your blog or business. There’s a lot of content in the course, and the only problem is that you will want to implement everything immediately. I’m in the process of updating old posts on my craft blog and applying bit by bit strategies.
There are lots of worksheets and ongoing support in a private Facebook group for students. Michelle is also great at responding to emails (in my case it was within 24 hours).
There are also bonus strategies from famous affiliate queens like Rosemarie Groener and Justine Grey (who teaches you how to get accepted into ANY affiliate program!).
Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing is a great course to take, especially if you are a brand new blogger. By implementing everything you learn here, you will start off blogging the correct way.

3.Learn Everything You Can About Creating Compelling Call’s To Action
Creating compelling calls to action is something I have struggled with and still struggle. It takes a lot of brainstorming for me to come up with something I think is a good Call To Action (CTA for short) and even they can fall flat. It’s at times like this where I head over to my favourite Facebook Group “Affiliate Ace” run by Justine Grey and ask for feedback. h

4. Track All Of Your Affiliate Links
You should add Event tracking in your Google Analytics so that you can track which of your posts are making you money. Most affiliate programs should allow for link tracking. However, there are certain programs, like Amazon Associates that don’t show you which posts your sales have come from unless you added precise tracking when building links. And honestly, who remembers to do that all of the time? Especially when you use a plugin like EasyAzon or the Amazon publisher Chrome extension.
Justine Grey has an excellent post on her blog with 31 ways you can experiment with affiliate links with a free planner. In my experience, affiliate marketing is all about always testing and tweaking, testing and tweaking. You don’t just have to drop links into your posts. Providing value and offering solutions to problems with products you have used is the way to go.
Getting into the mindset of an affiliate marketer, who is determined to make money through affiliate marketing and developing a strategy will improve income exponentially. You don’t have to change site niche to make money from affiliate marketing.
